semiprecious gemstones. Gemstones add character and personality!
In your next jewelry purchase, remember to select from an
array of gorgeous gemstones available in every color on
the rainbow, so you don't end up as a regular, boring jewelry
wearing person.
But you don't know anything about gemstones you say. Well,
that's why we're here. We are here egaging in the grand
task of helping the world learn about gemstones; differentiating
between various types of popular gemstones and the grade
of quality for them. We will bestow enough wisdom onto you
so you can be confident and act like you know stuff next
time you browse a local gemstone jewelry store.
To sum it up, gemstones can be divided into, in descending
order of value, two major categories: 1. The Big Four, and
2. Semiprecious Gemstones, also known as the Other ones.
The Big Four consists of rubies, emeralds, sapphires, (RGB
for you primary color buffs) and you guessed it, diamonds.
These four precious gemstones are the most popular and valuable
in both historical means and contemporary ideals. Often
regarded as the classics of gemstones
because they adorn the wearer with - class.
Semiprecious Gemstones
by far make up the largest percentage of all gemstones.
They range greatly in value, color, quantity, and popularity.
The standards for which we determine a semiprecious gemstone's
worth also varies. If you think the more rare a gemstone
is then the more valuable it is, you are in for a surprise.
For example, look at the alexandrite. It's an interesting
specimen that changes color depending on natural or artificial
lighting. Being rarer than, let's say, diamonds, it's also
way more affordable. But alexandrites look like smuck you
say. Well, let's look at the spinel then. It's dark, rich
red color often surpasses that of a museum quality ruby,
but you can get it at a much less dollar/carat ratio despite
the fact that it's much rarer! Nope, life is not fair in
the gemstone world. When people don't know about a stone,
it's worthless regardless of how beautiful and rare it is.
